The Comoros has no dedicated data-protection law, with the sector overseen by ANRTIC under a telecommunications framework that provides for lawful interception but few user safeguards. Press-freedom groups have documented arrests of journalists and periodic pressure on independent outlets, and with Comores Télécom and Telma the only meaningful providers there is no competitive privacy alternative. Encrypted tunnelling is the realistic protection for Comorian users.
